Power & Precision
The entry-level 4Runner, known as the SR5, comes with Toyota’s i-FORCE 2.4-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine and rear-wheel drive function. The turbocharger puts out 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The 8-speed electronically controlled transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) has a sequential shift mode and uphill and downhill shift logic for those times you aren’t on pavement.
With Toyota’s Drive Mode Select (DMS) you have the option of running three different driving modes: Eco, Normal, or Sport, with an additional tow and haul mode for when you are trailering all of your toys.
Exterior
Included recovery tow hooks are on both the front and rear of the vehicle for any mishaps off the road or in case you need to pull someone else out of any precarious situations. 17″ dark-gray alloy wheels come standard and allow for beefy tires that beg to be taken offroad, and the roof rails allow for carrying larger items on top of the vehicle.
LED headlights and foglights light your way through dark or rainy terrain, flanked on the rear-end is also LED taillights. A rear power liftgate window on the back end allows for easy access to your gear without having to open the rear hatch.
Interior & Multimedia
Get inside the 4Runner with a Smart Key System, which includes remote keyless entry, illuminated entry, and pushbutton start. Upon stepping inside the SR5, you’ll be greeted by six-way manually adjustable seats including lumbar support for both driver and passenger, and a 60/40 split reclining and folding second-row seat.
The 8″ Audio multimedia display with an 8-speaker audio system will keep you entertained while driving around or trail-hopping, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety & Convenience
All trims come with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package. There are so many features there’s too much to list here, but know that you are covered with a multitude of front and rear warning features, a backup camera with projected pathway view lines, blind spot monitoring, and trailer merge warnings.
Other notable features are a built-in anti-theft system, driver and passenger seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a crash, power door locks that automatically lock or unlock when the vehicle is placed in drive or park, child safety locks on the rear doors, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
